Final Expense Insurance in Irving

A funeral, a few medical bills and an old credit card balance can land on your kids fast. We set up small, permanent policies sized to those costs. We ask a few health questions, show you the options side by side and help you pick the right beneficiary.

What Final Expense Insurance Covers

Final expense insurance is a small whole life policy. It is built for one job: paying the costs that come right after someone dies. That usually means the funeral or cremation, a burial plot or headstone, the last medical bills and any small debts left open.

The face amount is modest compared to term life or a larger whole life plan. That keeps the premium within reach for people on a fixed income. The rate is set when the policy starts and does not go up as you age, and the coverage does not run out as long as premiums are paid.

Most of the people we talk to in Irving and nearby towns like Grand Prairie and Euless are in their fifties, sixties or seventies. Some have no coverage at all. Others had a policy through work that ended when they retired.

What You Get When We Set It Up

A number that fits real costs

We start with what you want covered. A traditional burial costs more than cremation. Then we add any bills you expect to leave behind and size the policy to that, not a round number picked for you.

The right type of policy for your health

Simplified issue policies ask health questions but need no medical exam. Guaranteed issue policies skip the health questions but usually come with a waiting period before the full amount pays out. We tell you which one you likely qualify for.

Side-by-side carrier prices

Two insurers can charge noticeably different premiums for the same face amount. We put several offers next to each other so you can compare the monthly cost and the payout for each one.

Beneficiary set up correctly

We help you name a beneficiary and a backup. We also check that the names are spelled the way the carrier needs them, which keeps the claim simple later.

A plain walk-through of the policy

Before you sign, we go over the waiting period if there is one, how the premium is paid and what happens if a payment is missed.

Signs Final Expense Coverage Makes Sense

  • Your work policy ended at retirement

Group life coverage through an employer often stops when the job does. Many people find this out years later.

  • You do not want your kids paying for the funeral

If your savings would not cover a funeral without strain, a small policy can carry that cost instead.

  • Your health has narrowed your choices

Conditions like diabetes, a heart problem or a cancer history can close the door on larger policies. Simplified or guaranteed issue plans often stay available.

  • Your term coverage is running out

Keeping a term policy going in your sixties or seventies often costs far more than the original rate. A permanent final expense policy holds the same premium for as long as it stays in force.

  • You are on a fixed income

A large policy may not fit the budget. A smaller one aimed only at final costs often does.

How It Works, Start to Finish

  1. 1

    A short phone conversation

You tell us your age, rough health and what you want covered. We ask about funeral plans and any bills you would leave. Most of this takes one call.

  2. 2

    We compare the options

We match you with policy types you are likely to qualify for and pull rates from several carriers. You see the premium, the face amount and any waiting period for each one.

  3. 3

    The application

We go through the health questions with you and fill in the application. Most final expense policies need no exam and no blood work.

  4. 4

    Approval and delivery

Once the carrier approves it, we go over the policy with you page by page. We also suggest you tell your beneficiary where the paperwork is kept.

What Moves the Price

Final expense premiums depend on a handful of things about you and the policy. We show you how each one affects your rate so nothing on the quote is a mystery. Changing the face amount is usually the easiest way to bring the premium down.

The age you apply at
Each birthday nudges the starting rate up a little. Whatever rate you lock in on day one is the one you keep for life.
Your health
Answering no to the health questions usually means a simplified issue policy at a better rate. Serious conditions may point to guaranteed issue, which costs more and often has a waiting period.
How much coverage you choose
A policy meant only for cremation costs less than one meant to pay for a traditional service, a cemetery plot and a marker.
Cigarettes or chewing tobacco
Nearly every carrier charges a higher rate if you use any kind of tobacco.
Male or female
Carriers price by gender, and women generally pay a little less for the same coverage.

Common Final Expense Questions

Something not covered here? (972) 419-8565

Is there a doctor visit or blood test?

Usually not. Most carriers ask a few yes-or-no health questions on the application and don't require an exam. If your answers disqualify you, a guaranteed issue policy has no health questions at all.

What does a waiting period mean?

Many guaranteed issue policies cap the payout if death from natural causes occurs in the first couple of years. In that stretch the carrier usually returns the premiums you paid, sometimes plus interest. Once it's over, the full amount pays. We let you know ahead of time if a policy includes one.

Does the premium rise with age?

No. A final expense premium is fixed when the policy begins and doesn't change. The coverage doesn't run out either, as long as you keep up the payments.

Is it the same thing as a prepaid funeral plan?

No. A prepaid plan ties you to a single funeral home. Final expense coverage pays the person you named, who chooses the funeral home and decides which bills to pay first. Your family keeps the choice.

Is this better than a larger whole life policy?

That depends on the job you want the money to do. To cover final costs only, final expense is usually simpler and costs less. To leave more behind, we can go over whole life insurance or universal life insurance with you as well.
