Mortgage Protection Insurance in Irving
A mortgage payment doesn't stop when a paycheck does. We match life coverage to what you still owe on the loan and the years left to pay it off. The check goes to the people you choose, not the lender, and they decide how to use it.
Mortgage Protection, Explained Simply
Mortgage protection insurance is life coverage pointed at a single bill, your mortgage. In most cases it's a term life policy. The amount is set close to what you owe, and the term lasts roughly as long as your remaining payments. If you die before it ends, your beneficiary gets paid.
Your bank may send you mortgage life offers in the mail. Look at them carefully. Many send the money straight to the lender, and the benefit gets smaller as you pay the loan down while the premium doesn't change. The coverage we arrange for Irving clients usually pays your family, who can clear the loan, keep paying it or put the money toward something more urgent.
We go over it with you like a neighbor would. We read your loan papers, ask about your other debts and who counts on your income, and tell you plainly how much coverage fits.
What Our Help Covers
We start from your loan papers
Balance, interest rate and payoff date all go into the math. Your coverage amount comes from those numbers instead of a round guess.
Level or decreasing coverage, explained
Level coverage holds the same amount for the full term. Decreasing coverage shrinks along with your loan, and the premium is often lower. You'll see the two next to each other before you choose.
Quotes from more than one carrier
Prices for the same coverage can vary a lot between insurance companies. We compare several and walk you through the differences in plain words.
Rider options laid out
Some carriers offer riders, like help with premiums if you become disabled or a return of premium option. We tell you what each one costs and whether it's worth it for you. Availability depends on the carrier.
Beneficiary setup done right
We check that the right people are named and that a backup is listed. A missing or outdated beneficiary is one of the most common problems we see.

When Mortgage Protection Makes Sense
- A fresh closing
- Right after closing, the balance is at its peak. You're also as young as you'll ever be for the term, and that keeps the premium down.
- One income covers most of the payment
- If the mortgage depends on your paycheck, your family would feel it fast. Coverage keeps that payment from landing on them.
- You refinanced or took cash out
- A new balance or a new 30-year clock may not match the coverage you bought years ago. It's worth a fresh look.
- Your only coverage is through work
- Employer life insurance is often sized at one or two times your yearly pay, and it usually stops when the job does. That rarely reaches a full mortgage balance.
- The bank's offer feels off
- If the lender's mortgage life letter pays them, not your family, call us. We'll compare it against a term policy and show you what changes.
What Happens After You Call
- 1
Start with a conversation
Give us the basics: what's left on the loan, your age, a general picture of your health and who relies on your income. We ask questions and listen. Nobody is pushed to buy on that call.
- 2
Side-by-side options
We come back with a few options from different carriers. You see the coverage amount, the term length and the monthly cost for each, plus any riders that fit.
- 3
The application
We fill out the application with you. Many carriers ask health questions, and some want a short medical exam that a nurse can do at a time that works for you.
- 4
Approval and a final review
Once the carrier approves you, we go through the policy with you before you sign. We check the beneficiary, the dates and the premium so nothing is a surprise later.
What Sets Your Premium
Mortgage protection doesn't come with one fixed price. The carrier weighs you, your loan and the type of coverage you choose. We walk you through how each choice shifts the premium, and you pick where it lands.
- Your age and health
- Applying younger and healthier gets you a lower rate. Cigarettes or chewing tobacco can raise the premium more than nearly anything else you answer on the form.
- How much you cover
- The more you owe, the more coverage you need and the more it costs. Some clients cover the whole balance. Others cover a portion and let savings handle the rest.
- How many years it runs
- For the same amount of coverage, a longer term costs more each month than a shorter one. Matching the term to your loan keeps you from paying for years you don't need.
- Level or decreasing
- Decreasing coverage tends to cost less. Level coverage costs more, but as the loan gets smaller your family is left with money beyond the balance.
- Any riders
- Every rider raises the premium. We'll say plainly which ones we think earn their cost and which don't.
Common Questions About Mortgage Protection
- Who gets the money, the lender or my family?
- Your family. With the policies we write, you choose the beneficiary and the lender is left off. Those people can pay off the loan, keep up the monthly payments or use the money elsewhere. It's their call.
- How is this not the same as PMI?
- PMI covers the lender if your payments stop, and your family gets nothing from it. Mortgage protection insurance is life coverage that pays the people you choose.
- Is a medical exam required?
- Sometimes. It's up to each carrier, based on your age and the amount of coverage. Some only use health questions on the application and others want a brief exam. You'll know which before you apply.
- What if I pay the loan off ahead of schedule?
- A term policy keeps going until the term is over, as long as premiums are paid. If you die in that window, your family receives the full amount. If you'd rather drop it, you can cancel.
- Would term life or whole life suit me better?
- For some clients, one bigger term life policy handles the mortgage and their other needs at once. Others prefer coverage that lasts their whole life. Our Term Life Insurance and Whole Life Insurance pages explain each, and we'll help you weigh them.
- Can you help if I live outside Irving?
- Yes. Our clients come from all around the area, Coppell, Grand Prairie and Carrollton among them, and it can all be done by phone.
